Being an organ donor could be tough decision for some, but to me, it never was. The way I look at it, why not? Once I’m dead and gone, my heart, my liver, my eyes, etc. — they’ll all be of no use to me. I want someone else to have them rather than having my body parts rot in the ground or burnt up during cremation. If I can help, even in death, of course I will.
A beautiful heart can bring things into your life that all the money in the world couldn’t obtain.
There’s always a chance that family members can refuse, what you can do is tell them all how important it is to you that if something bad happens, something good must come out of it. This is not only for your own sake and the organ recipients’, it can be for the family’s as well. Saving someone else seems to soften the blow of losing a loved one.
Don’t think of organ donations as giving up part of yourself to keep a stranger alive. It’s really a total stranger giving up almost all of themselves to keep part of you alive!
I became a registered organ donor years ago. I didn’t take this step to receive anything and I have not given anything to anyone yet, but I’m already filled with a sense of satisfaction and inner happiness.
Organ donation to me is the biggest and greatest Charity. In fact, this charity requires the least of your efforts. You do not have to give any money to anyone, nor do you have to spend your precious time.
